Old Framlinghamian Golf Society Autumn Meeting 2025

Old Framlinghamian Golf Society Autumn Meeting 2025

This was held at Aldeburgh Golf Club on Friday, 12th September.

27 members, ranging in age from 20 to 84 years old, attended the meeting on an auspicious day for Aldeburgh Golf Club.

This was the day when OF Roger Wharton, Captain of Aldeburgh Golf Club,”drove in” to inaugurate the superb looking new holes on the rearranged course.

Sadly, these holes were not available to the OFGS members who were possibly the last people to play the foreshortened old course. This was from 9.15 am on a variety of tees.

Nonetheless, the morning weather was fine, if breezy, with players off both white and yellow tees, a new arrangement due to the number of younger and lower handicap players in the field.

A typically enjoyable Aldeburgh lunch followed, attended by two guests, Kim Dickel our new President of the OF Society, in England from Germany for OF events, and Lucy Garrard, the new SOF co-ordinator following Kate Jackson’s departure. Roger Wharton also joined us for lunch.

Then, those not watching Roger’s drive-in at 4pm, played a nine hole greensome on the River Course under a bit of rain, thunder and lightning, thankfully not too close.

Due to a busy clubhouse, the prize giving was then held in the bar. The results were as follows:

AM

Le May Cup for best scratch score,                                      John Wybar            32 points

Harry Dorber and Barnaby Green.

The Spring Meeting will be held at Woodbridge GC on Tuesday, 12 May next year.
