James Mehta (S67-75) is proudly captaining the GB Rifle Team to US and Canada this summer. He has posted the following exciting update :
Three matches. Three victories.
The Canada Match
The Commonwealth Match
The America Match
It’s difficult to put into words quite how proud I am of this Great Britain Rifle Team.
A touring team is about far more than the scores on the board. It is about preparation, resilience, trust, friendship and people being prepared to give everything for one another. Over the past months I have watched this group come together as a team in every sense of the word.
To win all three of our major matches in North America is an extraordinary achievement, and one that every member of this team — shooters, coaches and management alike — should be immensely proud of.
I have been told that these results make this the most successful GB tour since 2002. As Captain, that is enormously satisfying, but the record belongs to the team. They are the people who went onto the range and delivered, time after time, when it mattered.
There have been tense moments, difficult conditions, plenty of laughter and memories that I suspect will improve considerably in the telling. Above all, there has been an extraordinary team spirit.
Captaining Great Britain has been one of the greatest privileges of my shooting life. To have done it with this particular group of people — and to come away three from three — is something I will never forget.
Very, very proud.
