Old Framlinghamian Golf Society Autumn Meeting 2026

This was held at Aldeburgh Golf Club on Friday, 11th September 2026.

26 members attended this Autumn Meeting playing the Championship course in the morning, playing singles stableford off 95% of course handicap and starting from six different tees. The weather was very pleasant being sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

This is the first time the Society has played the new course layout. The course has stood up reasonably well to this year of drought and the four new holes particularly so.

A very tasty lunch of roast gammon followed by apple crumble and custard lived up to the famous AGC reputation.

In the afternoon 20 members played a better ball competition on the River course, again off 95% of course handicap.

This was followed by prize giving in the “smoke lounge’, some discussion about the future secretarial role in the Society, and a possible need to increase the member’s subscriptions in 2027 or 2028.

Prizes were as follows, presented by OFGS Captain, James Blyth.

Coronation Cup for best overall score           Daniel Clementson on 40 pts.  (6 golf balls)

Le May Cup for best scratch score                Jonny Newton on 32 pts (3 golf balls)

Division 1 (1-16.9)      Runner up                  Guy Jenkinson on 38 pts. (3 golf balls)

Division 2 (17- 40)                                            Vernon Brown on 37 pts  (3 golf balls)

Lamb Trophy               Best combined scores Spring /Autumn Div 1 Jonny Newton 74pts

Howard Smith Cup     Best combined scores Spring/ Autumn Div 2   Andy Rose, 66pts.

Mayhew/Sneath Salver. Best back 9 holes for over 70’s  Barry Hitchcock 16pts.  (3 golf balls)

Better ball pair on the River course    Rob Giles/Daniel Clementson 23 pts (3 golf balls each).

James Blyth then thanked Aldeburgh Golf Club staff for a very enjoyable day and David Turnbull and Barry Hitchcock for organising it on behalf of OFGS.
