Old Framlinghamians gathered on 18 June to honour and celebrate the life of Peter Over (G 70–79), former Governor of Framlingham College and a true Gent of Suffolk whose warmth, generosity, and dedication to the College touched many lives.
The College’s Albert XI took on the Gents of Suffolk in the inaugural match for the Peter Over Memorial Trophy. A number of Old Framlinghamians participated both on and off the field, including Peter’s sons, James and Tom Over (G 04–09), together with Emily (M 01–15), George (S 02–17) and Fred Heldreich (S 04–20), Charles Kent (R 15–20), Joe Graves (K 18–23), Ben Chapman (R 16-21) and Henry Bevan (R 16–21).
The day began with a moving tribute from Chaplain Brynn Bayman, who reflected on Peter’s life, character, and enduring legacy. Throughout the day, many friends, family members, and members of the wider Framlingham community gathered to support the event and share memories of Peter.
While the cricket provided a fitting backdrop, the occasion was about far more than the result on the field. It was a deeply meaningful day that brought together generations of Old Framlinghamians, friends, and family in a shared celebration of Peter’s life, values, and lasting impact. The warmth, camaraderie, and affection evident throughout the day served as a powerful reminder of the friendships and community spirit that Peter cherished so deeply.
