A Promise Fulfilled

A Promise Fulfilled

Bex Auty, granddaughter of the late David Leeson Butcher (S 48–54), and his wife, Phuang Butcher, recently returned to the College for a deeply personal visit. Guided by OF-Coordinator Lucy Garrard (P 10–22), they explored the grounds and stories of the place that had meant so much to David throughout his life. He sadly passed away last year in October.

David, alongside his father Charles Leeson Butcher (1921–1926), was proud to belong to generations of Old Framlinghamians. Both men had expressed a heartfelt wish that their school photographs should one day find their way home to the College after their passing – a quiet testament to the enduring bond they felt with Framlingham College.

That wish has now been lovingly fulfilled.

President Kim Alexandra Dickel (M 97–98) was delighted to accept the generous donation on behalf of the Old Framlinghamian community, ensuring that these treasured memories have now truly found their way home.

For Bex and Phuang, the visit carried a profound sense of coming full circle. Walking the corridors and seeing the College through their own eyes for the very first time, they were able to glimpse the place David had spoken of so fondly across the years – not simply as a school, but as a cherished part of his story.
