Congratulations to John Cooper (S64-68) for being awarded the prestigious Susan Francis Design Champion award at the 2024 European Healthcare Design Congress.
The Susan Francis Design Champion award is presented to a visionary healthcare leader who has championed, advocated and monitored the value of design across one or more major healthcare projects, working in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders to deliver excellence and set new standards in quality design.
John is director and co-founder of John Cooper Architecture (JCA) and is a leading figure in healthcare design and has been a principal in practice for 36 years. He is actively engaged in reshaping the healthcare environment and improving and re-forming its architecture, combining an expert understanding of health planning with genuine design skills at both a strategic and a detailed level.
He set up JCA in 2009, and the practice has designed hospital projects in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Iceland and Australia. This provides John with an international perspective and a wide-ranging knowledge of best practice. He has led government report panels and provided peer review on major projects in the UK and Australia.
Our thanks to Jonathan Amos (S67-71) for spotting this news.
