OFs gather to celebrate 100 years of Rugby at Framlingham College

On Sunday 22nd September a small group of Old Framlinghamians and guests gathered to celebrate 100 years of Rugby at Framlingham College. We were kindly invited to a casual buffet lunch prior to the Centenary Rugby match between the College 1st XV and Ipswich RFC. This match replicated the first match ever played at Framlingham in 1924.

Those in attendance were: Chris Bellamy (G54-64), Ben Boyce (R88-91), Natasha Card (V85-89), Bob Clayton (G50-57) and Moira, James Coleman (G90-95), Andrew Cook (Director of Development), (Duncan Cork (K89-94), James Cundy (Z90-97), Mike Cundy (K61-64), Simon Dougherty (G60-67) and Maggie, Cristian Everett (K89-94), Jim Fennell (K91-94), Kate Jackson (P84-93), David Jakes (G90-97), Jeremy Kemp (S70-79), Jenkin Leung (K79-84), Mel Lewis (V87-97), Peter Metcalf (R55-60), Norman Mayhew (R48-56), Martin Myers-Allen (Director of Outdoor Education & Development Projects Manager), Louise North (Principal of Framlingham College), Charles Packshaw (Chair of Governors), Katie Rixon (P89-98), Chris Sneath (K51-56) and Liz, Pete Twentyman (S05-10), Rich Wilson (R88-93) and Zoe Wilson (V88-92) and their son Sebastian.

Many OFs who had come for the celebration were former 1st team rugby captains from the various decades. The College had also created a fantastic exhibition of rugby from over the years which was on display for all to see.

The match took place on Lords and was well supported by OFs, pupils, parents and the school community. It was an epic match, and the College 1st XV won convincingly beating Ipswich RFC 69-0. It was good to see so many OFs had come to watch the match, catch up on old times and celebrate this historic anniversary. After the match we all enjoyed afternoon tea in Paul’s Court.
