OF Tennis team victorious

On Sunday 3rd August 2025, Framlingham College hosted the Patron’s Lunch ahead of Framlingham Tennis Tournament week. Prior to lunch a fun but competitive tennis tournament took place between the Tournament Committee team and a team of Old Framlinghamians. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to play on the grass courts which was a real treat. These were all set up on the Back and thanks to the Groundsmen at Framlingham College, the grounds were looking superb in preparation for the tournament. All the matches were played in good spirit and we are very proud to announce that the OF team were victorious against the Committee team.

Drinks were then served outside in the sunshine and a delicious lunch in the Fowler Pavilion followed, for around 120 guests, including Patrons, Sponsors, Guests as well as Committee Members and Old Framlinghamians.

Speeches were made by Jeremy Scowsill (Chairman of the Framlingham Tennis Tournament) who welcomed everyone and reminded all on the history of the tournament (the oldest UK tournament after Wimbledon) and his thoughts on what is his final tournament as Chairman. We then heard from Christine Janes MBE (President of the Framlingham Tennis Tournament and former tennis player, French Open Champion and Wimbledon and US Finalist) who gave an interesting summary on this years Wimbledon and a comical account of players and Royal Box Spectators she had met, as well as an annual update on her wisteria!

The OF Team were Megan Jackson (M06-21), Joss Easey (R05-19), Saul Hindmarch (G19-24), Lucy Garrard (P10-22), Becca Garrard (P10-19), Chris Easey (R80-88), Tim Mosse (K78-82), Jack Stewart (G08-17), Joel Bahar (R13-18) and Alex Gordon (R14-19)

The OF tennis team would like thank the Society of Old Framlinghamians for their financial support on the day and to congratulate the College for putting on such a great event, as well as the Committee team who do an amazing job each year.’

Finally a big thank you to Paddy Bishopp (S86-91) for all his work beforehand to organise and assemble the OF team for this traditional annual event.
