Congratulation to James Mehta (S67-75) on his appointment as Captain. After starting shooting at the College, he won the Cadet Rifle Aggregate and was an Atheling in 1975, and then continued at Edinburgh University where he was the Captain of Full Bore. His career in dentistry and three children interrupted shooting for about twenty years, and since then he’s been trying to make up for lost time.
He was a member of the GB team in Canada in 2016 that still holds the record for the Commonwealth Match (6 off), and has also toured in New Zealand, South Africa, USA, and the Channel Islands where he was the Captain of the 2023 NRA team. James is now retired and with the children grown up, allowing him to keep touring for as long as possible.
He will be captaining the GB team on a tour of USA & Canada in August 2026.
For many years James has been a key member of the OFRC supporting and encouraging young shooters at the College to continuing their sport after leaving.
