Halford Hewitt Competition 2025

Halford Hewitt Competition 2025

An abundance of youth and exceptionally low handicap golfers meant the HH Captain, Jonny Newton, could relax on his family holiday, John Wybar captaining the team on this occasion.

The team, with a number of HH debutants, had a tough draw in Round 1 v Wellington, the golf being of a very high standard. Framlingham went down to a 3.5/1.5 defeat, but that does not reflect how tight the individual matches were. The pairings and results were as follows:-

John Wybar & Matt Pennock                      Lost

Rob Atton & George Jackson                      Lost

Frazer Johnson & Callum Pearce             Won

Harvey Finbow & Henry Moore                Halved

Harry Bush & Archie Winter                     Lost

Framlingham had a tough match in the first round of the Princes Plate against last year’s winners, Forest. The match went to the wire, with Framlingham narrowly losing the first two matches. The highlight was a terrific match for Callum & Frazer, which was halted on the 18th tee with the game standing all square. At the time Callum & Frazer were 1 under par, with four birdies and an eagle in the match, a frustrating end for the young pair.
