Distinguished OF cricketer interviewed on the BBC

We are grateful to Clive Smith (S54-58) and his passion for cricket for spotting a Test Match Special podcast on BBC Sounds Radio 5 Live this week.  It’s of a very recent interview by Stephan Shemilt the BBC Chief Cricket Correspondent with our only Test Cricketer David Larter (R51-57).

As well as mentioning the College towards the beginning, it gives a fascinating insight into the 1962/1963 Ashes Tour to Australia. Clive was a year below David and to this day he can well recall facing him on a number of occasions.

Richard Sayer (S56-61) biography on David is a great read and still available – click here for details.

I, too had listened to the podcast a couple of days ago. Unlike Clive, I never had to face David as we were in the same House and bowled in different nets!!! However, it was a pleasure to open the bowling with him in the 1957 1st X1. I would agree that Richard's biography is a great read. Best wishes to David.

David lives in Wales, follows the fortunes of England cricket and is happy to receive contact from old cricketing foes and friends.
