MOREAU LEAVING SCHOLAR

Oli Nisbet

2025 - 2028

I spent my early childhood living in London and Cambridge before spending around 6 years living in the south of Spain, undergoing the IB system at an international school which exposed me to a variety of different cultures.  I then joined Framlingham College Prep School in year 7, where I was given endless opportunities, both there and at the College through to year 13, and I have particularly loved the sports and skills that I have learnt at both schools.

I applied for the Moreau scholarship as I am keen to give back to the school that has done so much for me over the years. Framlingham College has been a massive part of my development academically and socially, making me the person I am today. Having joined from a completely different setup beforehand, I am grateful for the opportunities that the school has provided me, whether it be the support I have received through academics, sports or boarding. The most important asset that I believe I have developed is the communication skills that I have learnt throughout my time there, from boarding, socials or sports teams, the College provided me with a significant amount of time to build meaningful connections and I would like to continue this now that I’ve left.

I have many amazing memories of my time at the College, and it is impossible to write them all down on one page. Firstly, sport was a key factor in my time at Framlingham, representing the College in a variety of teams has been a special memory in itself, however House competitions and Stradbroke’s success in these competitions will always be a highlight, whether it was winning House Rugby every year at the College or winning House Cricket as a year 11, despite us being heavy underdogs. I will always be thankful for Strad and the friendships I made and the successes we had over the years. Although sport was a key aspect for me, being involved in other house competitions such as House Singing or House Dance was something I never thought I’d enjoy as much as I did, from being involved in House Singing nearly every year as well as performing in various House Dances, I enjoyed every minute of it.

In Sixth Form I took a wide range of subjects; History, Spanish and Photography. This range of subjects led to me to applying to do International Relations with Spanish at Newcastle University, where I hope to combine skills, such as the intake of knowledge and analytical essay writing, that I learnt through history as well as the high level of Spanish and use of sophisticated phrases and grammar. I’m also hoping to use the creativity that I learnt thanks to Photography. However, I do plan on taking a gap year before this and undergoing a ski Instructor course in Whistler, Canada.

Framlingham has provided me with so many opportunities, and for that I will forever be thankful. I will definitely miss the College and all that it has provided me with; however, I hope that I am able to give something back thanks to the Moreau Leaving Scholarship through being responsible for maintaining and strengthening the tight bonds and relationships that have been created throughout the last few years.
