MOREAU LEAVING SCHOLAR
Charlie Timmons
2026 - 2029
I joined Framlingham College in Year 12 for Sixth Form, arriving as a rugby scholar. It was a challenging start, as a previous ankle injury meant I was initially unable to play the sport I loved. Thankfully, I returned in time for House rugby before half term and went on to represent the First XV throughout Year 13. Rugby has given me some unforgettable experiences, from the French tour to competing in high-pressure matches, and remains a huge part of my life.
My experiences with injury have also shaped my academic interests. Repeated rehabilitation, multiple fractures and time spent in hospitals developed my passion for Biology, particularly human biology and anatomy, and made me interested in how the body heals, rebuilds and adapts. I hope to study Biomedical Science at the University of Bristol, although before continuing my studies I am planning to take a year out to travel around Australia and New Zealand.
Sport has also taught me a great deal beyond the physical side of competition. Rugby is the sport where I feel I can express myself best, particularly through the values it promotes. I have also volunteered as a coach at my local rugby club, working with younger players and developing my communication and resilience, while part-time work in hospitality has taught me to remain calm and adaptable in challenging environments.
My time in Stradbroke House has been an unforgettable part of my Framlingham experience, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone in the House who was always willing to offer their help and support. The friendships I have made at Framlingham have been truly special, and I hope the Moreau Scholarship will help me maintain those connections with my friends and the wider year group.
I first became interested in the Moreau Scholarship after hearing a previous Scholar talk about their experience and how they balanced school, friendships and the opportunities the Scholarship provided. It showed me the importance of maintaining strong social relationships alongside working hard and making the most of every opportunity. I am excited to work alongside Nic to help keep our year group connected as we move on to different universities, careers and places, and to continue building the strong sense of community that makes Framlingham so special.
