Services

Major Edward Octavius Debney (1865-1865)

Was a prominent businessman and councillor in Southwold, serving on the council and as an alderman from 1899 to 1913. He was mayor in 1895-6. He served in the Norfolk Garrison Artillery (Southwold Battery) from 1881 till 1908, for which he was made a Major and awarded the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Officers Decoration (VD for short!).
