Brigadier Miles William Ellis Wade CBE MPhil BA (Stradbroke 1966-1976)

Having left the College as Head Boy in 1976, he was commissioned into the 14th/20th King’s Hussars in 1977, before becoming a King’s Royal Hussar in 1992 and commanding The Royal Yeomanry (2000-03). Miles served in Germany, Cyprus, Brunei, Bosnia and Kosovo in various Army appointments until 2012, latterly as the Southern Region Brigade Commander and finally as Head of Army Media and Communication.  He was awarded an MBE following a tour in North Belfast in 1994 and a CBE for services to the Army in 2006.

He was appointed Chief of Staff of the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community in 2012 before being appointed as Secretary/CEO of the Royal Automobile Club from 2013-2021 during which he was also Chairman of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, a Trustee of the St James’s Conservation Trust, the Army Sailing Association, and an Ambassador for ‘Toe in the Water’, an injured servicemen’s sailing charity.

He is now a consultant for GGA Partners, an international consulting firm and trusted advisor to many of the world’s most successful private clubs, Chair of the King’s Royal Hussars Regimental Museum and Project Officer for the construction of the Army Sailing Association Offshore and Inshore Sail Training Centres.
