On 17th May 2026, a crack team of three foursomes pairings travelled to the immaculately presented Gog Magog Golf Club in Cambridge with one clear objective: to qualify for the finals of the prestigious Grafton Morrish Tournament.
Representing Framlingham were Matthew Pennock & Henry Moore, Fraser Johnson & Callum Pearce, and Archie Winter & Harvey Finbow, with invaluable support from Dickie Graves and his ever-faithful companion, Juno.
Fresh from an excellent run in the Halford Hewitt, expertly captained by Harry Bush, the team arrived full of confidence and eager to continue their impressive early-season form. Played over the superbly conditioned Old Course, the qualifying event attracted 20 strong teams, making the battle for one of the coveted qualifying places fiercely competitive.
As is so often the case in foursomes golf, teamwork and consistency were the key ingredients for success. Every pair made a valuable contribution to the team’s overall tally, with Framlingham finishing in an impressive third place on a combined total of 89 Stableford points to comfortably secure their place in the finals.
Special congratulations must go to Fraser Johnson and Callum Pearce, whose outstanding round of 33 points saw them top the individual qualifying standings. It was a superb display of foursomes golf and laid the foundation for the team’s success.
The Grafton Morrish is one of the country’s most prestigious amateur school golf competitions, bringing together former pupils from schools across the United Kingdom. Qualification alone is an excellent achievement, and the team can take great pride in earning their place among the finalists.
Attention now turns to the Finals, which will be held at the renowned Royal West Norfolk and Royal Hunstanton Golf Clubs on 16-18th of October. Framlingham have been drawn against Stamford in the opening round—a familiar opponent whom they narrowly edged by a single point during qualifying. It promises to be a closely fought encounter and an excellent test of the team’s credentials.
With confidence high following their performances in both the Halford Hewitt and Grafton Morrish qualifying, the squad will travel to the North Norfolk coast believing they can make a genuine impact. The camaraderie within the team, combined with some excellent golf throughout the season, provides every reason for optimism.
