Death of inspirational former teacher

Death of inspirational former teacher

It is with sadness that we have heard from his wife Margaret the news of the death of Hugh Kennon MBE (Hon. OF) on 30 March 2026. As hundreds of former pupils will know, he was a teacher at the College from 1973 to 1996 and was Senior Master from 1987 until his retirement. He was also Housemaster of Garrett, i/c CCF and Head of Economics.  Margaret (Hon. OF) was also a teacher at Brandeston for many years, serving as a Housemistress at Brandeston and at the College.

He was awarded an MBE for services to Combined Cadet Force and Territorial Army in the 1996 New Year Honours List.

His funeral will be at 10.40am on April 21st at Wakefield Crematorium.

I had the great fortune to be head of Garrett under HUGH. what a wonderful and caring man who gave his time unselfishly. I remember his great love of running as he ran from Framlingham through Brandeston and back to Framlingham. My thoughts are with his family. Rest in Peace
