Distinguished OFsThe uniqueness of a school lies in its past. It is to be found in the vision of its founders, in the benefaction and wisdom of those who sustain and develop that vision, in the contributions of those who teach and in the achievements of those who are taught.Framlingham College has a historically rich past. It has been fortunate in benefactors, governors and teachers. Many thousands of Old Framlinghamians have passed through its corridors and have moved on to diverse lives and achievements. This “Distinguished OFs” section of the website reflects the range of those achievements. It can but provide a representative cross-section and is necessarily selective of material and of achievements. It can only provide a reminder of the way in which the past complements the present. Framlingham is rooted in the county of Suffolk, but Framlinghamians have spanned the world in the age of Empire, in times of conflict, in pursuit of trade and adventure. There are those who have made their mark as sportsmen, businessmen, academics, artists, writers, agriculturalists; or in the services, the media, the world of entertainment. This school does not claim that it made them what they were and are, but takes pride in the achievements of those who spent their formative years at the College. The very diversity of achievement shows that Framlingham does not mould a stereotype, but prepares the person. There are no rules for achieving inclusion on this list except the judgment of the editorial team of those who have distinguished themselves in the public (and school’s) eye (and for the website team to know about the person and have had time to do the research to get them added to the list!!).
