Clive Smith (S54-58): Clive has been a Council Member before. He now returns with a specific role within Council – that of co-ordinating OF sporting activities. He will be looking for help in the appointment of Managers and Captains for specific sports.

My apologies for the late publication of this Overseas Bag, but once again it’s been great to keep in touch with so many of you via the wonders of e-mail. I would strongly encourage everyone to ensure that they register their e-mail address on the website, so that we can keep in touch. Space considerations mean that both the Newsletter and Yearbook can only contain a very edited version of this news, so I strongly encourage you to sign up and read about your former contemporaries.

| Sandy Walker victorious again |

Sandy Walker (R2000-2005) has been successful again.
Following his selection earlier in the year as the youngest ever member of the Great Britain Rifle Team, he seems to have had further success at Bisley last Tuesday. At the NRA’s 150th Anniversary meeting he came first in the Duke of Cambridge event over 900yds. This was mentioned in the Sports section of the Telegraph on Wednesday 21 July 2010 and was spotted by our eagle eyed President.

| OFs meet up at Henley Royal Regatta in 2010 |

James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) writes : On Friday 2nd July Mike Sullivan (K49-54), who has attended the Regatta for some 40 years, arranged a small party in Steward's Enclosure which included Bill Collard (S55-58) and James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52). A glorious sunny day was enjoyed by all and the Regatta was honoured by the presence of Princess Anne, the Princess Royal. She was escorted by the Lord Lieutenant and viewed the Regatta in the Royal Barge crewed by the Queen's Watermen.
Bernard Bridges (S45-54) was to join the party but unfortunately the meeting arrangements went awry which was handicapped by not being allowed to use mobile phones in the Enclosure. At the London Supper the following Tuesday it was discovered that Charles Benson (S45-54) was playing piano in the Shirtlifters Band in the Barn Bar further down the towpath.

| Hannah Gardner & Teddy Harrington Bring Moreau Scholar Total to Ten |

 The SOF's latest Moreau Leaving Scholars, Hannah Gardner (Pembroke) and Teddy Harrington (Stradroke) were awarded their scholarships by the Headmaster, Paul Taylor, at Speech Day Prize-Giving on the 3rd of July. In a novel departure, in recent years at least, the ceremony took place in bright sunshine on The Back.

Chris Essex (K69-75) writes : Edward Marr (G85-92) was in touch a little while ago to say that he had really enjoyed the OF dinner in Hong Kong in March 2010.
He went on to mention that he had recently “starred “ in the Vietnam episode of Theo Paphitis’s Adventure Capatilist TV Show. Sadly its no longer available in full via BBC iPlayer, but this link starts off with a mention and picture of Edward and his goal of pushing new publications in Vietnam. Having watched the programme in full, I can honestly say that Edward comes across extremely well and Theo is very positive about what he is trying to achieve in Vietnam.

| Visit to Garretts of Leiston |

James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) visited Garretts of Leiston with Tony Martin and sent in the following report and photo :
Prior to the Brandeston Dinner on 27th March Tony Martin took me to the first open day of the season to Garretts of Leiston. At the suggestion of Bill Collard I am doing a Paper on the family and their business and so more detail will follow later.
However, I thought you would like this one photo of Tony Martin standing beside the Sirapite engine which was build in 1906 and has been restored over the last 4 years and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The lioness plate on the front of the engine boiler is exactly the same as one made by Tony Martin himself. The engineering business closed in the 1970s but the Long Shop now houses a museum which was opened by Sir Joshua Rowley in 1984 and on it's 25th anniversary over 13,500 visitors passed through it's doors.

| Fundraising Lunch for S.B. Cambria |

James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) provided the following update on the fund raising lunch :
A fundraising lunch was held on 17th March at Waterman's Hall near the Thames which was largely organised by Bill Collard as the Project Manager for the restoration of the last sailing barge which was made in 1906. Some 70 people were present at the luncheon including the new Chairman Rear Admiral Bruce Richardson, the Trustees, donors and sponsors and guests.
Bill Collard gave a presentation on the history of the barge from its building until the present day and spoke without aid and without fault during a one and a quarter hour presentation. There then followed a luncheon with the menu of dishes all appropriately named.
The photograph attached is of Richard Sayer, former Master of the Shipwrights Company and one of the sponsors of the project, Bill Collard and James Ruddock Broyd, the Independent Examiner to the Charitable Trust Company.

| Sir Pat's Family To Give His Banner & Crest to College Chapel |

 Until recently, Sir Patrick Howard-Dobson's banner and crest (part of the regalia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath) have been installed, with those of some thirty others of the most senior Knights and Dames Grand Cross of the order, in the King Henry VII Lady-chapel of Westminster Abbey. Following his death, these items have been returned to the family.
As the photograph shows, the design of the banner (and of Sir Pat's coat of arms as a whole), strongly reflects Framlingham College, which he held in huge affection. "It was this", says Peter Howard-Dobson, "which inspired my brother, sister, and me to offer the banner and crest to the School, and in particular to the Chapel." - an offer which the Headmaster, Paul Taylor, was only too pleased to accept.
The gift will formally be made by Sir Pat's family as part of a whole-school Service of Dedication to be held in the Chapel at 10.30am on Saturday 19th June, which Old Framlinghamians, past staff, friends and colleagues will be most welcome to attend. The service will be followed by a reception to be held in Pauls Court.
