The Young OF Committee, in conjunction with the College, have arranged a fantastic inaugural ball for all OFs who have left the College in the Twenty First Century. This idea was born out of the first Young OF Committee meeting held at the College in October 2015 and we very much hope that this will be strongly supported.

This will take place on Saturday 16 April 2016 at the College and tickets will cost £40 per head including drinks reception, 3 course meal and entertainment.  Dress is black tie or equivalent.

Full details are given here and tickets and table wine pre-orders can be placed here

Historic Varsity achievement

Caroline Reid - Varsity photo
UPDATE : After publishing the story below, we have heard that Esther Gosling (V09-11) represented Oxford Blues in the 2012 and 2014 varsity rugby matches. They were victorious in both and in 2014 she kicked a penalty and two conversions to win 17-12. She also played for Oxford 2nds Netball in 2014, Oxford 1sts rugby league in 2013 and Oxford 2nds rugby union in 2013 - they were victorious in all of these!

ORIGINAL STORY : In March 2015 Caroline Reid (V03-09) became the first OF to be President of a women’s boat in the Boat Race and you can see the story here .  Now she has become the first OF to take part in the Women’s Rugby Varsity Match on 10 December 2015.  In so doing she has become the first women ever, from either Cambridge or Oxford University to win both a rowing and rugby blue.  Huge congratulations to Caroline.

Martin Myers-Allen (Headmaster at Brandeston) says that Caroline helped at Brandeston with games after her A levels at the College.  What a role model to have.

Alex Myers-Allen (R04-13) - A Midsummer Nights Dream at Berkeley Castle

A Midsummer Night's Dream - July 2016 - small

The 19th February 2016 marked the 420th anniversary of the wedding between Lord Thomas Berkeley and Elizabeth Carey at Berkeley Castle - the wedding for which William Shakespeare wrote and first performed one of the most successful plays in theatre history - A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. The London based company, Split Second Productions, will be returning to Berkeley Castle from 17th –27th July 2016 for what will be a history-making production of this play.

Set in the heart of a mythical forest surrounding Athens, four star-crossed lovers, a company of amateur actors and a fairy kingdom will collide to create one of the best-loved tales of falling in love - all in one night. But as we know, and as we are told; "The course of true love never did run smooth."

Producer Tom Berkeley holds very close familial ties to the project as he is a descendant of the very Berkeley family. Among the cast you will find students from the Guildford School of Acting including Alex Myers-Allen (R04-13), an undergraduate at the Guildford School of Acting, playing the part of Demetrius.

Popular Framlingham businessman to run London Marathon

Bill Bulstrode

Well known OF Bill Bulstrode (K62-69) got in touch to say "I'm taking part in the Virgin London Marathon 2016 on 24 April 2016 to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. I'm going to be raising money in memory of Maurice Cobb, my late father in law.  It's easy to donate online with a debit or credit card - just visit my JustGiving page . JustGiving sends your donation straight to Alzheimer's Society and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more."

Bill runs the ever popular home, style and fun shop in the centre of Framlingham and is a member of OF Council.  Bill's shop was facing closure after 45 years but was reprieved due to popular demand!
