The new book by John Bridges (S57-66), is now on sale. It was reviewed in the East Anglian Daily Times by former editor Terry Hunt (K68-75), who described it as ‘always engaging, sometimes surprising and very evocative.’ It tells the amazing story of the town during the Second World War. There is much about the College, including headmaster William Whitworth and his attempt to assist with the Dunkirk evacuation, the move to Repton when invasion seemed imminent, and his ultimate departure after refusing to act as a civilian rather than a combatant
The book which costs £20 has 152 pages and over 160 images, many in colour - click here for a wonderful aerial view of castle and College at that time. Now available in local bookshops, or for signed copies please contact John on: email@example.com or telephone 01728 723557.
