UPDATE :  Click here to see a picture of Robert Simmons new headstone being cut by Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Arras on Tuesday 29 March 2016.  Picture was taken by Evelyn's son David who had gone over to pick up the headstone for placing in Framlingham church cemetery where he is currently in an unmarked grave.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE : Remembrance Sunday 2015 saw pupils at Brandeston making 251 ceramic poppies, one for each former pupil and member of staff who has given their life for this country. The 251st Poppy was dedicated to Robert Simmons who was a waiter at the College and who joined the army at the age of 17. Thanks to research by local resident Evelyn Empson we have just discovered that he should be remembered in the Chapel and a new plaque was unveiled on this Sunday. You can see a full write up on Robert Simmons here and photos of the Remembrance Service and poppies at Brandeston here .

Each poppy was individually made by a pupil at Brandeston and if you are interested in who made a particular one please email us at admin@oldframlinghamian.com
