Grafton Morrish Tournament
Golf Society The first team played at Knole Park GC in the South East regional qualifying round on Saturday 9th May. Hopes of qualifying for the finals were high following the recent fine run in the Halford Hewitt Plate, but the absence of one or two of our stronger players weakened the team and we were unsuccessful, finishing some way down the field. Our playing partners, Sevenoaks School (local knowledge?), did qualify and we wish them every success in the finals. Playing scratch foursomes off the very back tees on a testing course, even in pleasant sunny conditions, is always very demanding.
Youngsters Alex Cameron & Matt Stolls (24) went out first, followed by Charlie Plunkett & Martin Lamb (20) and then, bringing up the rear, veterans Robin Anderton & David Turnbull (20), a late replacement, who was making his first team debut a mere fifty years after leaving the College!

The team was grateful for the support of Andrew & Margaret Wright, together with their beautifully well behaved golden retriever (who was more interested in the wild deer than the golf), David Mitchell and Emma, Alex’s fiancée.
