Howard Robinson, affectionately and universally known as Zowie, retired from full-time teaching at the end of the Summer Term, after twenty-five years at the College. Generations of Framlinghamians have been inspired by his enthusiasm and unfailing good humour both as Head of Biology (which he has been throughout, and later deputy Head of Science as well) and as a tireless organiser and participant in the Barbershop Group (which he founded) and the Choir. What better, then, than to use the occasion of the OF Suffolk Supper on October 1st to bring these generations back together to sing Zowie's praises and, particularly for old Biology students, to take a tour of the Bio Labs. The Suffolk Supper will be at 7.00pm for 8.00pm at the College and, as usual, will follow an SOF Council Meeting to be held in the Library at 5.45pm.
Click on this link to register for an Application Form, which we will email to you as soon as final details are confirmed (the cost of the supper will be a mere £20.00 a head). We strongly advise getting in quickly, as we expect demand to be strong and places will inevitably be limited.
For more information about the supper itself, and to contact the event organiser, John Gooderham (for instance, about overnight accommodation), please go to the Events menu item.
Howard is very keen to get together with as many as possible of his old singing colleagues and protégées, and to sing to the assembled masses at some stage of the evening. A rehearsal (not mandatory, because the music chosen will be easily remembered numbers, but probably a good idea) will take place in Pauls Court between 6.00 and 6.30pm (with apologies to Council members and those who would have liked to attend the Council Meeting). Would anyone who would like to take part in the singing please get in touch with Howard by email: Howard Robinson
Between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, and by kind permission of Richard Higgins (Head of Science), the Science Labs will be open for visitors, and all will be welcome to see how things have changed over the years.
Finally, it is our hope that many of Zowie's old students will want to contribute to a commemorative gift to be presented to him at the Supper. If you would like to do so, please would you send a cheque, payable to Norman Porter our General Secretary, c/o Framlingham College, Framlingham, Suffolk IP13 9EY.
